Gun Line Foot Marines

Thanks to Son of Dorn, you guys are getting yet another post from me today! We were discussing the merits of a foot list in today's 40k meta and I think I've come up with a list that seems very interesting. It closely mimics the all-foot Space Marine list seen on a recent Bell of Lost Souls battle report, but I think I've made my list unique enough to stand out on its own.

2,001 points - Space Marines

HQ
Chapter Master Pedro Kantor

ELITES
Dreadnought (2x TL-Autocannon, "Rifleman")
10x Sternguard (2x Lascannons, 2x Combi-Plasmas, Sgt with Lightning Claw and Bolter)
10x Sternguard (2x Lascannons, 2x Combi-Plasmas, Sgt with Lightning Claw and Bolter)

TROOPS
10x Tactical Marines (Lascannon, Plasmagun, Sgt with Power Fist)
10x Tactical Marines (Lascannon, Plasmagun, Sgt with Power Fist)
10x Tactical Marines (Lascannon, Plasmagun, Sgt with Power Fist)

HEAVY SUPPORT
6x Devastators (4x Lascannons)
Thunderfire Cannon
Thunderfire Cannon

60 models, 5-10 Scoring Units, 10-13 Kill Points

Pedro makes the Sternguard scoring, the entire list Stubborn, and grants +1 Attack to all units within 12" (Those Sternguard would have 4 attacks each on the charge!). Oh, and the two Techmarines with the Thunderfire Cannons can each bolster a separate Ruin in your deployment zone! As long as it's not a Kill Point game, you would combat-squad the Sternguard to be able to split-fire with the Lascannons, and maybe even the Tactical Squads so that you could send the Plasmagun and Sgt out objective hunting. There's a LOT of long-range Dakka that this list can provide and it actually does make a solid defensive gun line with Pedro holding the fort center-field (or, center deployment-zone). The point of this list? Destroy everything from range, blow stuff up, profit. :)

Oh, and on a side note, here's some inspirational Space Marine armies to drool over!

  1. I love it. I might tweak a couple things for points effeciency, but it's very different and has my wheels turning. I'll get more on here once I have my codex handy. :)

  2. I'm curious to see what changes you'll make lol. I do think it is already points efficient considering I spent a few minutes taking out all the extra wargear, changing things around, and adding another whole Tactical Squad, but hey, who knows.

  3. I'll recompile the list and blog it back at ya. My initial thoughts are that the lascannon devvies are too pricey; especially with the saturation of cheaper ones you've gotten throughout the list. Gonna mull it over a bit. :)
