Finally! The Dave HAS COME BACK!

Okay this time I'm really back with a few updates on everything that's been going on.

Wow! What an amazing Wrestlemania! On April 1st, WWE put on it's 28th Wrestlemania in Miami, Florida with some of the biggest matches in the history of the WWE! The Undertaker got his re-match with Triple H (with special guest referee Shawn Micheals), and The Rock went one-on-one with John Cena! I won't spoil anything, but it was the best Wrestlemania I've seen in years, maybe all the way back to 17.

In other news, I have played a few more games with my Cygnar and just like in the last post, those games are being recorded in a thread I'm making on the PP Forums: http://privateerpressforums.com/showthread.php?100745-Finally-got-my-Cygnar!

I've also come up with a new list that I think would look really cool on the table top, but it's completely different than what I normally play:

pStryker, 35 pts
-Squire
-Stormclad
10x Sword Knights
-Officer & Standard
10x Sword Knights
-Archduke Runewood
10x Precursor Knights
-Officer & Standard
Rhupert Carvolo, Piper of Ord

It's 39 models and most of them are Knights. It's a high-armor list that focuses on being extremely durable and can still hit like a ton of bricks. I really like the way this will look on the table top and I think pStryker has the talent to back all of these units up.

An alternate list would be:

pStryker, 35 pts
-Squire
-Stormclad
10x Sword Knights
-Officer & Standard
10x Sword Knights
-Archduke Runewood
10x Stormguard
Journeyman Warcaster

This is 37 models, but Rhupert and the Precursors have been replaced with Stormguard and Junior. The Stormguard have reach, can benefit from Arcane Shield, and can Electro-Leap.

And here's a tiered list that focuses purely on the Knight concept via Darius:

Captain Darius, Tier 4 Wrecking Crew, 35 pts
-Squire
-Centurion
-Thunderhead
10x Sword Knights
-Officer & Standard
10x Sword Knights
-Officer & Standard
Journeyman Warcaster
Captain Arlan Strangewayes

The tier 4 list with Darius allows models to gain Pathfinder in the first turn as well as deploy two extra inches forward. Darius can cast Fortify and Junior can cast Arcane Shield on the Centurion and Thunderhead to make them ARM 23 and 22, and Darius has some CRAZY shenanigans involving knockdown, repairs, and extra Jack movement. In the first turn, I can be exactly 24" across the table, ready to beat face in melee with 24 Knights, 2 Heavy Jacks, and some support!

I'm really excited to play-test some of these lists but for now I'll have to proxy some of the units with 40k models (or the spare Trenchers I have).

As for the Games Workshop games front, I have basically abandoned everything. I destroyed a few Tyranid models after some minor theory-hammer for a Kill Team tournament I was going to play in (Tyranids just plain suck), and I haven't played or been able to play a game of Fantasy in almost a year now. My Blood Angels are sitting in their protective cases, waiting for 6th Edition this summer because I'm getting complaints that my lists are either too good (seriously, I'm not being conceited here), or I am personally getting frustrated because I'll bring a fun/fluffy list and my opponents will either have tournament-level lists with them or they'll just be straight-up dicks. Since 40k 6th Edition is coming out in three months, I think I'll spend that time enjoying other games. I did at least buy some new Necrons for my wife's army as well as two Hive Tyrant kits and two Tervigon/Tyrannofex kits for my Nids. I love the models and fluff for 40k, it's just the rules I am finding I'm having an issue with for now.

And then, I have finally decided to get back into the Pokémon Trading Card Game after a six-year absence! I finally have the time and money to put back into the game and now that I'm back, so are EX Pokémon, Gust of Wind equivalents, Rare Candies, and Double-Colorless Energies! I'm impressed with some of the cards that are out right now but what I'm really looking forward to are the new Dragon-type Pokémon that are coming out in the set after Dark Explorers. They look really cool and they have some balls-crazy abilities and attacks! I think I might just have to make a Dragon deck this summer when they come out!

Well that's it for now. I hope you guys enjoyed the update and hopefully I talked about something that interests you!

  1. You're 40k lists are good! Even though you're on hiatus, I'd like to see some more of them. I loved that Vanilla Marines list you posted and have had some great success with it :)

  2. Thanks SonofDorn! I have recently been inspired by that all-infantry Space Marine list from Bell of Lost Soul's second most recent battle report. I might write up a list tonight, who knows. :D

  3. That would be great! I look forward to it. I was just told by a friend today that all-foot lists are unviable. I think the counter-meta would be a fun surprise to throw out against all of the mechanized stuff. :)

  4. Yeah I don't know. I think foot lists can be viable but they're not easy to run, that's for sure. I'll see what I can do. It will probably be up no later than 5am (I work nights, sorry lol).

  5. I don't mind. I'm just glad you're so willing to share your list building voodoo :) I think I get into ruts with my Fists sometimes and you're lists, and the logic that you put into them give me a fresh viewpoint.
